wine trails and tours
The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail is the oldest wine trail in the country. It includes 15 wineries, a cidery, a meadery, and 4 distilleries which have won over 5000 national and international awards.
The Boathouse Beer Garden and Brewing Co is a great place to stop when you’re out on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. Peter and his crew have a huge variety of regional craft beers and local wines available. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating with lawn games and sometimes live music or craft shows.
The Finger Lakes Cider house is also on Cayuga Lake, down the road from the Beer Garden. In their tasting room you can try not only their cider, Kite& String, but many other artisan ciders from the region.
Owner Laura Winter-Falk is Certified Sommelier and Professor or Wine at Tompkins Cortland Community College. Her well trained staff of tour guides is well known for their knowledge of the area’s wines. You can join one of their tours or arrange one just for you and your group.
If you don’t have time to get out to the wine trails, Triphammer Wines & Spirits, locally owned and operated since 1941, has an amazing selection of regional wines, ciders and spirits. Their sister business, The Ithaca Coffee Company, located just next store, sells gourmet cheeses, snacks and candies to pair with your selections along with craft beers. They also have a tavern with local wines and beers on tap.
